Mondsee Ferries
Ferry service on Lake Mondsee looks back on a long, rich tradition: Lake cruises accompanied by glorious views of the surrounding mountains and meadows can be booked year-round. In July and August, romantics are offered Sunset Cruises that include a Captain's Dinner. If desired, exclusive cruises can also be booked for special occasions.
Schafbergbahn
You can make your way to the top of the imposing Schafberg on foot, or you can simply enjoy a ride up there on the traditional Schafbergbahn. The trip on this, the steepest cog railway in Austria, takes around 35 minutes to reach the top station located just below the 1783 meters-high summit. In fact, due to the array of fascinating perspectives along the way, you will probably wish the journey would last a whole lot longer.
Hallstatt
Hallstatt is an extremely rewarding place to visit: the idyllic location on the lakeshore and the many historic buildings have made Hallstatt world-famous! This picturesque small town owes its existence and prosperity to the rich salt deposits in the area.
Mondsee Pile Dwellings
The Mondsee Pile Dwellings are actually on the UNESCO World Heritage List: In fact, the Mondsee region looks back on an over 6000-year-old history of human settlement. At the Mondsee Pile-Dwelling Museum, the lives of those ancient settlers are brought vividly back to life on an exhibition space of 400 m2. The museum is located in rooms of the former Mondsee monastery.
